		<description>Co-incidentally, i was thinking of the same thing this morning. I was speculating that the reason for such a myth is the end of the ice age, and the resulting melting of the glaciers led to large tracts of land getting submerged, and or cut of from the rest.

And therefore, each community of people deciding they were the last survivors on earth.
