I agree. It was Paul who make the Jesus Cult, as it was known then, more popular. In fact Paul too did not see Jesus. I think Jesus was made up from earlier mythologies, like how Christianity was a synthesis of earlier pagan rituals.

Even Josephus writing about the Jewish History failed to mention Joshua of Nazareth whilst mentioning dozens of other well known people also called Joshua!
