I have the book "Return of the Aryans", but I am not entirely convinced about the book.

Just an afterthought: Isnt he the same Bhagwan Gidwani who wrote a book "The Sword of Tipu Sultan" on Tipu Sultan, which was made into a TV serial? Tipu was a great hero in the teleserial. If the book says the same stuff as well, then I would seriously begin to think Gidwani is an anti-national Islamophile and not believe anything he writes immediately.

Kedar, I remember reading about memory history in the introduction of Bhagwan Gidwani's Return of the Aryans - can't remember the exact point though.

Interesting concept this "mnemohistory, or memory history". I wish the same courtesy were extended to Indic puraNas, the authors of which were more of "satya-kaamas" with no objective of furthering the Sanaatana dharma per se. They seemed only to write down whatever stories came down to them from their ancestors or perhaps during their travel.

As usual a very interesting post. I wish for the day when such un-biased studies can be conducted in India.
