China and Golden Straitjacket

The “Resident Idiot”:http://www.tni.org/fellows/bidwai.htm, “a liar”:http://www.madhoo.com/archives/002358.php and “supporter of murderers”:https://varnam.org/archives/000300.html, gave the “following advice”:http://www.nirajweb.net/mt/niraj/archives/002090.html to Congress(I) for winning the elections
bq. What the party needs is a major realignment with India’s social reality after more than a decade of rightward drift. The central aspect of that reality is the state of underdevelopment, deprivation, poverty and ignorance in which the bulk of the population lives even as it aspires to a life with freedom and dignity. This locates India’s “natural” political centre of gravity on the Left. Only a left-wing programme charged by egalitarianism and progressive social policies can address the needs of the mass of the population.
And at the same time what is happening in the “mothership”:http://www.hindustantimes.com/news/181_526031,00020008.htm ?
bq. China plans to lay off some three million workers every year until 2006 as to streamline the bloated public sector units in the country, the state media reported on Friday.
China is also closing down loss making state owned enterprise. China has learned that for that country to survive in this era of Globalization, it has to stop wasting money and concentrate on wealth creation which in turn drives job creation. They are smart folks, who do not want to go the Soviet Union way and are accepting the Darwinian brutality of free-market capitalism.
China is now wearing what Thomas Friedman calls the “Golden Straitjacket”:https://varnam.org/archives/000132.html.

  1. tsquared, communism is no longer followed in its land of origin, the remaining communist countries like n. korea are examples of you should not follow that model. but still people like the resident idiot and r ram want india to go through that path. the comrades will never acknowledge this openly.

  2. Amen! I don’t really bother about the fortunes of Congress(I) –which, has been a family affair for a while–, but you are right-on to be aghast at any advise to spread socialism.
I think our politicians and intellects (self-styled) confuse socialism with social engineering.

  3. JK,
You’re right. Mine was a sarcastic question. Commie ram is number 1 hypocrite. Sometime back he wrote in frontline how Tibet has “progressed” under chinese occupation. Of course, no word from him on how they moved large numbre of ethnic chinese to Tibet and Uighur areas. Imagine commie ram’s reaction if India tries to move large number of Biharis and UPites to Kashmir. For him, whatever china is doing is praiseworthy, but if India tries to do similar things all hell breaks loose. Whenever India achieves something, commies always compare India and China and paint a pessimistic outlook. As you mentoined, commies will never acknowledge that chinese have progressed because they abandoned communism.
It’s scary to think that the hindu is the leading newspaper in south india. It is India?s tragedy that commies like bidwai and ram are part of the mainstream media. In the USA, even the most liberal newspapers like New York Times will not allow an American version of bidwai or ram anywhere near their compound. I have spoken to lot of educated people in Chennai and they have no clue about the evils of communism; that how stalin and mao terrorized and killed millions of their own people. I don?t blame them because commie-dominated elites in education (JNU types) have successfully censored the genocide of mao and stalin from text books. I don?t remember reading anything critical about mao or stalin in high school. After I moved to the USA, I learned about the evils of communism. People back in India have no chance of redemption with people like commie ram constantly brainwashing them. So, people don?t think much that they have a politician named Stalin (Karunandhi?s son) who was ex-mayor of Chennai and God forbid, he may one day become chief minister of Tamil Nadu.

Ah! On the spot, man! The only thing we read in school about mao and stalin was about their “glorious achivements” in “transforming the economy of their countries in a short span of time,” and instlling a sense of “pride” in “communist-based principles” in their citizens.

  6. Since we are being taught these kind of wrong things in school, what is wrong in re-writing history books ? Immediately it is labelled saffronization and termed bad.

  7. >>Immediately it is labelled saffronization and termed bad.
Yeah! And they are all honorable men, the Eminent Historians. Doing great (dis)service to the hoary heritage of Islam…errr..India.

  8. Sandeep, Did you know that Romila Thapar Eminent Historian has a new book on Somnath in which she promises to tell the truth about Ghazni’s looting of the place. That should be an interesting read. I saw some exerpts of the book in the Hindu yesterday. Could not understand what angle was trying to promote.

  9. What else could it be–the usual Islamic whitewashing. Incidentally, Penguin (I think) had published (in 2002 I guess) a book on Medieval Indian History by the Empress of Leftism…errr..History. Guess who wrote a rave review on this book in the Outlook magazine?
    It was another eminence–Satish Chandra.
The only way to show their true colours is by exposing them in public–in the form of a televised debate. Unfortunately that’s tough given the secular credentials of the Indian media.
Arun Shourie’s pioneering work in exposing these thugs is but a step. But they have a pretty strong support, and they know how to use it well. How else would you explain her appointment to the Kluger (I don’t remember the exact name) Chair, Despite several hundred petitions against the appointment.
